Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Maintenance to oversee and manage all aspects of our aviation Flight School maintenance department. As the Director of Maintenance, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and upkeep of our airplanes, facilities, equipment, and systems. This is a leadership role that requires strong technical knowledge, Aircraft Mechanics license (A&P), Inspection Authorization (IA), excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team. You will be responsible for signing off aircraft annual inspections, keeping up with Airworthiness Directives, 100 hour, 50 hour, 25 hour, and other maintenance as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal performance and reliability of all equipment and systems
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of Maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Oversee the maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective utilization of resources
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs or replacements
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or services
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all staff
- Collaborate with other departments to support their maintenance needs
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory, and maintenance history
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in maintenance practices
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge in electrical systems, low voltage systems, HVAC systems, and general mechanical knowledge
- Proven experience in maintenance management or a similar leadership role
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Ability to fabricate or repair equipment as needed
- Proficient in using CMMS software for work order management and tracking
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify issues and implement effective solutions
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
