Hood Meadows shares their passion for serving the team and the guests through their friendly and helpful approach to people, culture, and talent management and development at the resort.
The Director of Human Resources at Mt. Hood Meadows is responsible for overseeing various HR initiatives, ensuring compliance for the resort's team members, and fostering a positive team culture. This includes managing wage and salary administration, employee health and safety, benefit programs, employee relations, training programs, and talent acquisition. Serving as a coach to the leadership team on people-related issues, the Director is ideal for someone passionate about shaping and advancing Mt. Hood Meadows' culture.
In this role, the Director provides operational leadership, coaching, and management for teams executing the vision and strategies set by executive leadership. They oversee training, analysis, coordination, and review of activities within their purview, implementing policies and procedures to enhance productivity and satisfaction. With primary accountability for overall departmental performance aligned with executive direction, the Director acts in the best interest of the company within their specific department.

  • At least 18 years of age or older
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resource Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • 5 years Human Resources Director/HR management experience
  • Human Resources Information System (HRIS) experience, Timekeeping Software Experience (Dayforce preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Oregon labor and employment law
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism, coupled with the ability to establish credibility effectively across all levels of the resort.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of: Talent Acquisition / Talent Development / Talent Management processes in the following areas: Recruiting, Leadership Competencies, Talent Assessments, Succession Management, Performance Management, Workforce Analytics, Safety and Risk Management processes and analytics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Pertinent federal, state, local laws, codes, and regulations including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, ADEA, EEO
  • Experience implementing development programs, including 360 assessment, personal development plans, succession plans, and high potential/high impact employee development programs preferred.
  • Experience in high impact recruiting, on-boarding, and retention and development of talent to ensure a skilled, diverse, and competitive workforce.
  • Knowledge of organization development methodology, change management and effective team building.
  • Must be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business
  • Must be able to commit to working weekends and holidays during the winter season.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment background screening.

Preferred Experience
  • Bilingual/Spanish Proficiency preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification preferred
  • Previous Ski Resort experience preferred
