It Network Engineer Intern

What We Are Looking For
The IT Network Engineer Intern is expected to be able to perform complex tasks and participates in medium and large projects with little direct supervision. They participate in ensuring the availability and performance of infrastructure systems. Additionally, the IT Engineer will suggest and implement improvements to Panduit's infrastructure systems and provide technical expertise and direction to other IT teams and departments.
What You Will Do
Project 1 - Assess & inventory network infrastructure: The incumbent will learn skills such as physically assessing network infrastructure components, i.e. type of device, rack location & mounting, labeling, network patching, PDUs - model, mounting, connections. Create documentation.
Project 2 - Access & assess configuration of network components: The incumbent will learn skills such as how to connect to various network devices, examine the device configuration and compare to standard configuration. Will learn how to use the change management system analytical tools based on first principles, how to create technical documents, how to conduct thermal measurements
Project 3 - Assist with conduct of network hardware refresh: The incumbent will learn skills such as how to inventory and prepare the IDF, request cables & PDUs to conduct refresh, configure the replacement device, prepare and submit change controls to schedule refresh, and finally conduct refresh
Project 4 - Assist with setup and configuration of Solarwinds NPM & NTA: The incumbent will learn about network & performance monitoring along with configuring Solarwinds modules and network equipment to be monitored.
What You Will Bring

• Preferred Major: BS in Information Technology or related field
• Educational Grade Level: Sophomore or higher
• Experience with networking including wireless a plus
• Local to Tinley Park preferred, open to remote candidates as well
