As our Director of Human Resources, you will plan, develop, and prioritize the policies, responsibilities, and activities of the Human Resources (HR) department. In this role, you will lead a team of three other HR professionals including our Director of Recruitment. You will work closely with the COO and CFO to integrate HR strategy with other integral components of our business. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys operational involvement with multiple aspects of the HR function. An ideal candidate will have led previous HR teams to demonstrable success and be eager to leverage their talents on a larger stage. Our Director of Human Resources reports directly to our COO.
This position is based in our Chicago headquarters and requires working in-person at least four days per week.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand and refine Gelber's goals related to staffing, recruiting, retention and employee development.
- Oversee and administer HR programs including, but not limited to, payroll, benefits, compensation, performance management, leave, disciplinary matters, and training and development.
- Collaborate with the finance and accounting department to accurately prepare, process and book a variety of payroll and other HR-related transactions to our financial management and control systems.
- Monitor and ensure Gelber's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from Gelber's human resource information system (HRIS) and talent management system.
- Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities across all HR staff.

- Appropriate self-confidence, a competitive spirit, and an enjoyment of all things related to the financial markets are huge positives.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- At least five years of human resource management experience required
- Applicable HR training (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, HRCI-PHR, HRCI-SPHR) highly preferred
