TITLE: Director of AcademicAffairs for Preschool and Elementary Schools
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Administrative Endorsement, Professional Educators License
2. Building-level and organizational leadership experience/skills required District
3. Experience in elementary education preferred; PFA/PFAE experience preferred
4. Others, as deemed necessary by the Board of Education or Superintendent
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Principals: Preschool and Elementary Schools
JOB GOALS: In collaboration with the District Leadership Team and in alignment with the vision and mission of the district, the Director of AcademicAffairs for Preschool and Elementary Schools provides leadership and guidance to the Preschool and Elementary Schools principals in all academic operations areas.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provides an annual analysis of the District's performance on the Illinois State Report Card.
  2. In collaboration with the District Leadership Team, sets annual academic goals in collaboration with the Board of Education and Superintendent.
  3. Provides leadership to principals in carrying out district goals as set by the District Leadership Team, Superintendent, and Board of Education.
  4. Advises the Superintendent and Board of Education quarterly on academic progress, including data and other information as requested.
  5. Provides a monthly update to the Board of Education regarding Preschool and Elementary programming and academic progress.
  6. Leads the Board Committee for Academic Affairs in collaboration with other Director(s).
SUPERVISORY
  1. Supports principals in the development of their building-level goals annually.
  2. Develops and carries out a process and tool for accountability/evaluation of principals.
  3. Formally evaluates principals.
  4. Supports principals in carrying out the teacher evaluation process and practices in accordance with district policy and other requirements.
  5. Provides leadership support to principals concerning disciplinary matters for Preschool and Elementary school students.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
The Directors for Academic Affairs serve as the instructional leaders of the district
  1. Initiates the development of programmatic goals and instructional objectives on a District-wide basis, ensuring a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
  2. Develops policies and administrative guidelines for curriculum and instructional services.
  3. Maintains a systemic approach to curriculum and instructional planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  4. Creates and implements a cohesive and balanced assessment system.
  5. Provides leadership in systemic equity.
  6. Leads the academic committee(s) for selecting and adopting new textbooks, instructional materials, and methods under the direction of the District Leadership Team and carries out the annual purchasing of materials, including utilization review of tech-related subscriptions.
  7. Supports the integration of social-emotional learning (SEL) within the curriculum.
  8. Monitors and supports Language Acquisition and Dual Language Immersion programs in the district.
  9. Coordinates and supervises the implementation of summer programs.
  10. Plans and implements Parent Education programs systemically.
  11. Reads, interprets, and applies complex rules and regulations related to federal and state program assessment information, including reviewing school report cards and other assessment data with building leadership.
  12. Assesses professional development needs and design and implement professional learning to support the curriculum using effective practices, including research on theory and content standards, leading others in developing, planning, and presenting professional development.
  13. Works with principals to establish a body of work for instructional coaches.
  14. Researches and communicate new curriculum-related Legislative and Case Law Updates with the District Leadership Team.
  15. Sets high standards of performance for self and others.
  16. Knowledgeable of current trends in curriculum and best instructional practices and attend meeting(s) and conference(s) that promote professional growth and will benefit the District.
  17. Supports the implementation of the signature programs (STEM/STEAM, College & Career Readiness).
  18. Serves as the liaison between the private schools and the District in providing federal and state-mandated support service to private school children.
FISCAL SERVICES
  1. Works collaboratively with Director(s) in developing the District Consolidated Plan.
  2. Completes grant application(s) as applicable in collaboration with Director(s).
  3. Monitors and supports building-level administrators with site-specific grant applications, expenditures, reporting, and compliance protocols.
  4. Collaborates with the CSBO, supervises all Categorical Programs, including but not limited to Title I, Title II, Title IV, PFA, PFAE, etc.
  5. Collaborates with the Executive Director implements the requirements of Title III.

Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
Attends monthly Board meetings.
COMPENSATION
12-month Contract (260 Days, 20 Sick Days, 20 Vacation Days)
Salary Commensurate with Experience
