The Office of Financial Aid is part of the Enrollment Management unit, where we support recruitment and student success efforts of the campus through the administration of Financial Aid programs. This full-time position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is the primary fiscal officer for federal, state, and institutional Financial Aid program funds providing fiscal responsibility, accurate reporting, and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies/procedures.

General duties include program planning/implementation, funds management, and Financial Aid compliance reporting and audits. This position supports the Director on essential fiscal management and reporting for the Office of Financial Aid. This position maintains a thorough and current working knowledge of all Title IV federal, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure accurate release of information and program compliance.

We coordinate over $425M in grants, scholarships, work-study and loans for over 20,000 students each year. Our staff consists of 38 full-time professional employees and 50-60 student employees. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Financial Aid Fiscal Compliance: Prepare and submit required interim and final Financial Aid state, federal and institutional reports including SURDS and FISAP.

Support the Director in overseeing the annual external audit process ensuring timely tracking and completion of requests and accurate responses to inquiries. Document internal control procedures and ensure they meet OMB Circular Single Audit Title IV requirements. Develop cost of attendance student budgets each year per federal and state requirements, and in consultation with campus partners.

Track federal and state allocations, funding levels, and awarding criteria. Document packaging plan awarding parameters each academic year and for summer term. Interpret regulations and ensure compliance with current rules, regulations, laws, etc, associated with fund management of federal, state, and institutional aid programs.

Financial Aid Program Management: Provide reliable and timely financial and budget reporting to Enrollment Management Leadership. Responsible for identification, analysis and implementation of Financial Aid fiscal policy and procedures. Assist with the analysis, design, and implementation new federal, state and institutional Financial Aid initiatives, mandatory and voluntary at the discretion of the Director.

In consultation with other EM offices and the Office of Data Analytics, develop financial forecasts and budget projections for Financial Aid programs. Develop and provide cost of attendance and awarding resources for the Office of Financial Aid. Provide Financial Aid data and formulas for the bill estimator, net price calculator, and other public webpages.

Fiscal Control: Drive and participate in the creation, compilation, control, maintenance, and monitoring of financial information for federal, state, and institutional Financial Aid programs. Oversee and coordinate federal funds draw downs. Reconcile PeopleSoft Financial systems and CU-SIS with the Federal systems and resolve errors with Systems and Processing.

Ensure the Pell and Federal Direct Loan Program reconciliation process is completed accurately. Lead fiscal year end reconciliation and close-out process for the Office of Financial Aid. Involves working with the Campus Controller's Office, Sponsored Programs, Federal Department of Education (ED), Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE), Treasurer's Office and Budget and Fiscal Planning.

Ensure set up for fiscal year changes in finance and student systems. Team Management: Foster an inclusive, creative, success-oriented, and accountable environment that attracts and retains top-notch professional and student staff who are passionate about providing the highest quality of work, facilitates a safe space for feedback and constructive criticism in support of positive and ongoing dialog, and nurtures the collaborative relationships that enable the work to be produced. Responsible for hiring, evaluating, training, and coaching direct reports.

Also, sets expectations for employee development for the Fiscal Management Team. Ensure team members are supported by building strong relationships with campus partners. Delegate and track work assignments of team members.

Professional Development: Collaborate with immediate supervisor to determine areas for professional growth and identify and request appropriate training opportunities. Participate in training seminars, conferences, committee meetings, etc. for professional development in the areas of Title IV Financial Aid, financial analysis, and accounting.

Attend staff meetings, retreats and other meetings as assigned. Supervision Received and Exercised: Reports to the Director of Financial Aid and supervises the work product of up to 1 FTE. What You Should Know Final candidate must successfully pass a criminal and financial background check and cannot be in default on a student loan either upon hire or while employed in this position.

Hybrid work environment offered. What We Can Offer The salary range for this position is $71,500 - $76,500 per year. Signing Bonus offered within departmental guidelines.

Relocation allowance may be offered within departmental guidelines. Be Boulder. What We Require Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Five years of Financial Aid, finance, or accounting experience.

Strong computer skills including software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other presentation software), email communication tools, and web-based applications. What We Would Like You to Have Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Experience managing large fund accounts ensuring accurate budgeting, expenditures, reconciliation, and reporting. Experience in a higher education setting.

Supervisory experience. Working knowledge of a student information system and/or scholarship management software. Working knowledge of Federal Title IV Financial Aid programs and regulations.

Thorough knowledge of State of Colorado Financial Aid regulations. Experience with federal Financial Aid data systems including NSLDS, FAA Access, and COD. Experience using PeopleSoft student information system.
