Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center is located in Breckenridge, Colorado - the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Nestled between the mountain and Main Street, at Beaver Run you're just a few steps away from the ski slopes in the winter and the hiking trails in the summer. With 45,000 square feet of conference and meeting spaces, Beaver Run is the largest conference center in Breckenridge with the most scenic views and most professional team, services and amenities.
What You'll Do:
The Director of Food & Beverage Operations is responsible for all aspects of lines of business associated with food & beverage. This role will have a strong emphasis on our culinary food & beverage department but is responsible for all aspects of the six year-round and seasonal food & beverage outlets, banquets & catering, central kitchen operations, and purchasing. This position leads a team of senior managers and management level staff representing multiple departments and ensures the execution of Beaver Run Resort's vision and strategies. The Director of Food & Beverage Operations will have a strong relationship with the Vice President of Resort Operations and will serve as a liaison to the Executive Committee. The position is located on-site in Breckenridge, Colorado. May require variable hours, weekends and holidays. Reports to the Vice President of Resort Operations. Full-time, year-round position with benefits eligibility.
Position starts at $110,000/yr. + DOE.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 3-5 direct reports and over 100 indirect reports varying by season.
- Performance management including setting goals and expectations, monitoring performance, providing feedback and implementing corrective action.
- Partner with human resources to recruit and hire staff.
- Identify and create development and advancement opportunities.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Partners with the Executive Committee in development of strategy and financial goals.
- Leads management in the creation and execution of strategy, day-to-day operations of all associated lines of business including but not limited to food & beverage, banquets & catering, central kitchen, purchasing, third party vending operations, and their achievement of identified goals and expectations.
- Stay current with hospitality industry trends, monitor competition, identify new opportunities to maximize customer satisfaction, technology and profitability.
- Creates an employee culture that is based on engagement, inclusivity, growth, creativity, and care.
- Assists with the creation of unique programming in outlets, banquets, and activations around the resort.
- Fosters community and industry relationships and corporate social responsibility to enhance the property's perception and positioning.
- Analyze data and metrics including financial performance, inventory, guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction, etc. to proactively address changing market conditions, operate within budgetary guidelines and achieve financial goals.
- Responsible for creating, managing and forecasting multiple budgets up to $10M+.
- Ensures attainment of budgeted food sales, beverage sales and labor costs; achieves maximum profitability and overall success by controlling costs while providing quality of service.
- Performs analyses of Food & beverage pricing in relation to competition.
- Participates in the development, implementation and management of Food and Beverage marketing activities and social media.
- Coordinates with large group meeting/banquet planners their specific group requirements with the services & facilities offered to include proposals, contracts, estimated and actual function statements.
- Works with the Resort Executive Chef, Food & Beverage Managers and Food & Beverage Leaders to ensure all arrangements and details are dealt with.
- Ensure daily inventory is managed to maximize all potential Food and Beverage revenue.
- Utilize and leverage procurement strategies and inventory system to control costs, supply chain needs, and efficiencies.
- Develop talent pipeline through professional associations and educational institutions, such as internship and apprenticeship programs.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with groups to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business.
- Ensures that staff maintains a professional attitude and proper appearance and uniform standards.
- Recommend, plan and lead short and long-term capital expenditure projects for the division.
- Responsible for facilitating and securing 3rd-party vendors and contracts for services and projects.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Drives a culture of safety ensuring compliance with all OSHA, ServeSave, and regulatory agencies.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in business, culinary arts, hospitality or equivalent experience required.
- 7+ years Hospitality or Resort experience required; culinary leadership experience is required.
- 5+ years in a senior role in F&B environment or equivalent experience required.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing business plans for a multi-unit resort food & beverage complex, weaving in procurement strategies and utilization of company resources that result in increased profitability.
- Principles and practices of employee supervision, including selection, work planning, organization, performance review and evaluation, and employee training and discipline.
- Principles and practices of developing teams, motivating employees and managing in a team environment.
- Food & Beverage Operations both front & back of house.
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets of $10M+ required.
- Experience with negotiation and management of vendors and contractors.
- TIPS and ServSafe certification required within three months of hire.
- Advanced proficiency in budgeting, profit & loss statements, and business planning.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Experience with POS systems - Agilysys/InfoGenesis a plus.
