Director Of Finance

City Cast is seeking a Director of Finance to develop our financial operations, lead finance strategy, and oversee finance and accounting.

City Cast, which was named Adweek's 2023 Podcast Innovator of the Year, is a new national network of daily local podcasts and newsletters. As our first Director of Finance, you'll have the chance to leave your mark on a venture that's changing the face of local media. About the Role:

City Cast is seeking a Director of Finance to lead finance and accounting at our fast-growing local media company. As our first finance employee, you'll be an essential and influential business strategist helping us forecast scenarios, make critical decisions, build innovative business models and keep our books in order along the way. In addition to serving as our go-to business sounding board and guide, you will also develop and manage all aspects of our financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial processes and best practices and regulations. The ideal candidate is a talented strategist, an innovative thinker, and an extremely effective communicator, with strong collaborative and leadership skills and a track record of driving financial success.

As Director of Finance, you will have the autonomy to do what you do best, which should include the ability to dive into the intricacies of our financials and analyze data to provide actionable insights that improve the company's decision-making. You'll identify opportunities for revenue expansion, cost optimization, and operational efficiency. Working closely with all departments, along with our parent company, you'll help shape and implement strategies that supercharge our financial performance and drive our growth.

Job Responsibilities:

• Data-Driven Decision-Making: Compile and analyze financial data to extract actionable insights that guide informed decision-making at all levels of the company. If we're thinking about a new line of business, you're going to figure out if it makes sense.
• Financial Strategy Development: Craft and execute strategic financial plans that align with the company's overall objectives, ensuring long-term financial stability and growth.
• Accurate Financial Reporting: Work with accounting to ensure the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts for senior management and stakeholders.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, ensuring effective resource allocation and alignment with financial targets.
• Financial Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that adhere to best practices and mitigate risk, promoting transparency and consistency.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including parent company Graham Holdings, sister companies, etc.
• Team Development: Build and guide a small finance and accounting team, ensuring a high level of performance, professional growth, and alignment with the company's objectives.
• Collaborative Communication: Effectively convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in progressively responsible finance, FP&A, and/or accounting roles, with at least 2 years in leadership capacity
• Proficiency in financial software and systems, including financial modeling tools and Microsoft Office Suite
• Thorough grasp of financial management principles.

The Director of Finance reports to the CEO. The position is fully remote, but you must be located in the U.S. Candidates must possess authorization to work in the U.S. Pay and benefits are competitive. Base salary ranges from $175K-$200K depending on experience, with additional comp from pension and bonus.
