We are hiring an Assistant Director of Accounting!

The Assistant Director of Accounting will play a critical role in managing the financial health of our organization by performing and coordinating accounting duties. Key responsibilities include financial reporting, account reconciliation, payroll processing, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong attention to detail, who can effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting, will oversee two accountants as well as outsourced accounting help, and will be based in our home office. The perfect candidate will be a Senior Accountant looking to grow into an Assistant Director/controller.

This is a full-time position that will report directly to our Director of Finance and Accounting, based at our home office in Park View.

Your core responsibilities will be:

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Oversee the accounting activities performed by the company’s outsourced accounting team, Senior Accountant, and Staff Accountant.
  • Take ownership of the company’s financial statements by preparing and analyzing financial statements in a timely fashion, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
  • Oversee the preparation of the company’s bi-weekly payroll.
  • Continuously evolve and maintain accurate financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, as well as monthly and quarterly forecasts, to support the company's strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations and coordinate the preparation and filing required tax returns.
  • Provide supervision and coaching to the staff accountant.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, human resources and marketing.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial and operational analyses as needed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed

You’ll be a great addition to the CYM team if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the quick service restaurant industry or a high-growth company.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting and internal controls.
  • General ledger experience including preparing journal entries, preparing monthly accruals, and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Management experience including reviewing accounting work prepared by others and providing feedback or adjustments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large sets of data.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a continuous improvement mindset.
