About the Job
The Development Director will be crucial in advancing the organization's mission by leading and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies. This position requires a strategic thinker, a relationship builder, and a results-oriented professional who is passionate about making a difference. This person will oversee Nomi Network’s development team and will be pivotal in securing the financial resources necessary to advance our mission and create a lasting impact.
Location: Dallas, TX with 30% of time committed to traveling.
Reports to: President.
Status: Exempt (Salaried).
Direct reports: Grant Manager, Sr. Development Associate, Sr. Communications Associate, Sr. Giving & Events Associate, and Development Administrative Assistant.
Schedule: Full time.
Key Responsibilities:
Development Department Leadership:
  • Work with the President and Director of Transformational Gifts to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with Nomi Network’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage the annual development plan, which encompasses all fundraising activities including campaigns, events, prospect research, grant writing, donor retention/appreciation, and donor development and communication plans.
  • Identify and cultivate major donor prospects, secure major gifts, and manage relationships with existing major donors.
  • Support development team in development and cultivation of mid- and mass-level donor programs.
  • Work with the President to set strategy and oversee special events and campaigns.
  • Establish and monitor key metrics to make forecasts and evaluate ongoing performance ensuring the department will meet or exceed fundraising goals.
  • Promote and guide the adoption of best practices and innovative approaches for fundraising.
  • Represent the organization to outside stakeholders at key events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Track and analyze fundraising data to measure progress and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Work with the Grants Manager to ensure success in all elements of grant strategy and execution.
  • Meet on a regular basis with the President to report on activities and outcomes.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of a BA, MA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of Development experience.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to live out Nomi Network’s organizational values of purpose, compassion, continuous learning, ownership, and service.
Physical Requirements:
  • The position functions in a normal office environment that requires the ability to successfully interface with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
  • Sitting for long periods of time are typical activities in this role.
  • Because travel is associated with the role, this position requires the ability to navigate airports, get in and out of vehicles, drive, and manage luggage.
  • Talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word) and hearing (perceiving the nature of sounds) are required.
  • Clarity of vision (i.e., reading small print) is required.
