About the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA)
The Vice President for International Affairs and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. The Office of International Admissions resides within the Office of International Services (OIS) and is dedicated to helping international students and scholars achieve their goals. Our staff recruit, admit, and enroll international students from all over the world. We provide social and cultural programming and visa- and immigration-related advising among other assistance to all international students and scholars. Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Develops long-term international undergraduate student recruitment strategies and contributes to the university's broader strategic enrollment planning and goal setting.
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to a comprehensive International Admissions office composed of a full-time staff of eighteen. Heads a senior leadership team of 3. Functions as senior International Admissions office for all IU regional campuses.
  • Contribute to the preeminent international reputation of Indiana University through active professional engagement, including volunteer leadership service outside of IU as appropriate, serving on campus committees, and/or presenting at regional, national, and international conferences in support of strategic international recruitment and admissions.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the Associate Vice President for International Services, the Office of Enrollment Management's (OEM) Executive Director of Admissions and other key leadership within OEM, campus deans, department chairs, and program directors, provides consultative and advisory service and support concerning international student recruitment and admissions initiatives for the campus.
  • Conducts research and analysis regarding global student mobility trends and assesses external and internal factors related to student flows.
  • Develops and oversees policies and procedures related to international recruitment and admissions standards, application processing and workflows, international credential evaluation, credit transfer, and marketing and communications.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define admissions and recruitment methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority admissions and recruitment projects/initiatives.
  • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase admissions and recruitment initiatives.
  • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
  • Manages high level assignments and allocation of admissions and recruitment resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale admissions and recruitment projects with a wide audience in support of academic initiatives.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry admissions and recruitment standards, technologies, policies, and procedures; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
  • Works collaboratively with other admissions and Recruitment Leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
  • Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to admissions and recruitment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, social sciences, or related field
Preferred
  • Master's degree in business, public policy, social sciences, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 4 years in admissions, enrollment management, higher education student affairs, business, or related field
  • 1 year of management experience in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Frequent travel, domestic and international, is required in this position to participate actively in state, regional, and national organizations.
Work Location
Bloomington, Indiana
This position may be eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work) depending upon the work needs of the department and is subject to change based on university policy and business needs.
Advertised Salary
$70,000-85,000 annually
