The Digital Workplace Product Group, within the Technology organization at American Express, brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in Digital Workplace. It connects business priorities with product roadmaps and drives product management standards across the Digital Workplace organization. Role Description
The Director of Product Transformation will report directly to the Vice President Head of Product for Digital Workplace. In this role, the Director will lead the organization through a transformation toward building a product mindset focused on optimizing how we Plan, Prioritize, and Deliver our book of work. The Director will oversee three specific deliverables during year one; 1.)Build and deliver an organization-wide transformation plan, 2.)Decide the tools & standards for “How” we do Product Management across the organization, and 3.)Work with our in-house talent team to develop a robust Learning & Development plan for Product Managers and teams.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong passion for great products, customer experience, and transformative changes. You are not afraid to lead a major organizational transformation and get inspired by the idea of working through challenges as they come up. You thrive on progress over perfection and have a product mindset. You have experience in managing products, teams, and large transformations. Most of all, you have the passion to bring people along and articulate the benefits of the transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and drive the Product Transformation for the organization
- Own major decisions on product management tooling and standards and then drive adoption across the organization, e.g. roadmap tool, backlog management
- Work with our internal talent team to develop a learning curriculum for product management teams, including the definition of Product roles
- Bring in industry experts, speakers, and organizations to inspire our product teams and establish best-in-class Product Management
- Communicate transformation priorities and goals to the Digital Workplace product teams in effort to align roadmaps across organizations
- Develop and report ongoing success metrics related to the transformation
- Provide input into the determination of key product strategies and long-term goals
- Collaborate with senior leaders to develop educational strategy across stakeholder groups to ensure effective collaboration and decision-making
- Create and deliver executive-level and stakeholder communications, elevating the product teams unified messages to drive decisions and accelerate agile decision making
Desired Skills
- 7-10 years senior product management experience
- 5-7 years managing enterprise-wide transformations
- Ability to translate business requirements to product deliverables
- Ability to lead large forums
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Strong verbal & written communication
- Working knowledge of NPS, customer satisfaction methodologies
- Ability to handle difficult conversations and manage “customer-facing” engagements
Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
