Job Description
WAER seeks a Development Assistant to provide support and coordination of membership fundraising activities, including direct mail, on air and digital fundraising, and perpetual gift programs. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant's goals will be focused on day-to-day fundraising operations by overseeing mailings and email blasts, gift processing and acknowledgments, gift reports, and providing necessary support for fundraising appeals, campaigns, and special events and efforts. The Development Assistant will also provide support to the Corporate Revenue and Sponsorship Department with billing, collections, payment processing, and generating gift and business revenue reports, including supporting materials for various audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or commensurate experience in bookkeeping, database management, fundraising activities, and/or data analysis/reporting
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible data, bookkeeping and billing experience, utilizing donor databases or a CRM program.
  • Experience with Blackbaud-based systems helpful
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organizational goals.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in non-profit fundraising and/or database management.
  • Experience with a fundraising software or CRM program.
  • Budget management or bookkeeping experience, including billing.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including databases
  • Proficiency with MS Office Excel and Word, spreadsheet management and mail merge functions.
  • Knowledge of media trafficking helpful
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the Director of Development with the day-to-day fundraising operation of a public radio membership program, including assistance with the planning of on-air fundraising campaigns, digital campaigns, generating solicitations and acknowledgment letters, coordinating outsourced fundraising functions, and processing gift fulfillment. Works closely with Syracuse University's advancement office on WAER database retrievals, reports, gift processing, and acknowledgement systems.
  • Manages weekly fundraising messaging, donor and business sponsorship accounts, and affidavits. Processes all business sponsor Billing and Payments.
  • Collects and processes donor gifts and business sponsorship revenue, including studio rental billing and collections.
  • Data management: Collect and process listener data for donor prospecting, and coordinate data reports and delivery for outsourced prospecting and benchmarking efforts.
  • Other duties assigned.
