Job Description:
Immediate opening for an Accounting Assistant with a locally owned business in Presque Isle. Excellent daytime schedule, friendly small-office workplace, and a great selection of benefits, including PTO, paid holidays, health insurance and company-matched 401k. Full-Time/Days; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday; $20.00/hr.
The Accounting Assistant will oversee business transactions, issue receipts, record and type money lists, and balance funds in the business ledger. The employee will also reconcile spending reports, prepare bank deposits, and assist in the preparation of financial statements and cost reports.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a current and accurate ledger of business transactions.
- Prepare checks, deposits, budgets, and financial reports.
- Consistently update and review records; resolve discrepancies.
- Abide by all company procedures and accounting principles.
- Respond appropriately to requests from vendors, clients, and internal staff.
- Ensure that all business records are organized, accurate, and complete.
- Process transaction requests smoothly and efficiently.
- Perform basic administrative duties, including answering phones, taking messages, responding to emails, processing mail, and filing documents.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education. Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field strongly preferred.
- 1-2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
- Strong proficiency with standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Schedule: Full-Time/Days; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Pay: $20.00/hr. and benefits; PTO, paid holidays, health insurance options and company-matched 401k.
