JCC Greater Boston, a nonprofit organization focused on creating a vibrant and inclusive community, is seeking a talented and dedicated individual to join our team as a Desktop Support Technician. In this role, you will provide technical assistance and support for computer systems, hardware, and software to both staff and participants. As a Desktop Support Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in a diverse and collaborative environment that values the uniqueness of each constituent. You will play a vital role in ensuring that computer systems are functioning effectively, thereby enabling staff and participants to have a seamless experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide high-level general support:

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware and peripheral devices.
  • Install and support key organizational software.
  • Provide technical support to staff and participants via Zoom, phone, email, and in-person.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to computer systems and software applications

Provide departmental support:

  • Maintain an inventory of computer equipment and software licenses.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to develop and implement technology solutions.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal performance of computer systems.

Provide effective training for staff and participants on the proper use of computer systems and software.

The starting salary for this position is $55K - $60K annually. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience supporting computers in a Windows environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows environments and Microsoft Office is required, along with an understanding of how to configure a PC from scratch.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with network protocols and networking concepts.
  • Exposure to Windows Server environment, including Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively technical information to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Displays a customer-centered approach and a commitment to providing excellent service.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master new software programs.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

Able to work well in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Able to sit and kneel as needed in dealing with equipment.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

JCC Greater Boston is a nonprofit organization with roots in earlier Settlement Houses and Young Men’s Hebrew Associations; JCC Greater Boston today offers a wide range of services and program activities throughout the Greater Boston region (~50,000 individuals annually in 98 communities). The organization provides a variety of programs and services to children and adults in the Greater Boston Jewish community including preschools, day camps, a regional model of Jewish family engagement, a fully equipped fitness and aquatic center, arts and culture classes, performances, lectures, and Jewish holiday celebrations.
