The Sr. Design Manager/Engineer helps develop the scope of engineering services for manufacturing plants (assembly, stamping, powertrain, casting, and paint), non-manufacturing sites and/or PDPM projects by overseeing all aspects of design and engineering phase of the project timeline. Responsibilities include the design and engineering oversight for assigned projects from early scope development through to execution and stakeholder occupancy.  This job description is intended to set forth the core functions required for this position and describe the general nature of the work performed by employees in this position.  It may not contain a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required to do this job.  Employees may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.  The company reserves the discretion to revise this job description at any time and require employees to perform other tasks as circumstances or conditions of the company’s business, competitive considerations or the work environment changes. Scope of Role:

  • Initiate and organize project support required and early engagement of any engineering SME input into the project scope (SOR or RFPS).
  • Design manager/Engineer is responsible for the design phase of the project and ensuring engineering services are procured and design is as intended in scope of work.
  • Design Manager will work with multi-discipline members from engineering, purchasing, safety, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Manage changing priorities and engineering schedules.  Possesses the ability to decide and act without having the total picture, can handle multiple and concurrent diverse projects with minimal direct supervision, and can coordinate activities with key stakeholders and other disciplines.
  • Employ rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult schedule and engineering problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answers.
  • Identify future issues related to engineering schedules utilizing broad knowledge and perspective.  Future oriented and can create and execute competitive and breakthrough concepts related to facility design.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating facilities design and construction activities
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding and reviewing engineering drawings and specifications
  • Extensive experience with Building codes and construction specifications
  • Willing to travel within North America (Passport required)
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or related field
