Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].
The Role:
Are you looking to diversify your skills, work experience, and exposure within GM? Do you want to explore how new virtual capabilities can be applied to creative design and 3D sculpting workflows? Please consider joining our Immersive Strategy and Innovation team as the Innovation Manager for Global Design.
You’ll gain experience working across all the Global Design studios and alongside your new team members focused on other parts of GM including Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, IT and more. You’ll have the opportunity to influence the global vehicle development process and GM’s acceleration of virtual capabilities. You’ll regularly present and report to all levels of Design Leadership providing you opportunities to grow your network and leave your mark on how we design and visualize our products.
What You'll Do:
- Voice of Global Design with working knowledge and understanding of current challenges
- Aligns Global Design’s business goals and priorities to immersive opportunities
- Develops and aligns strategic roadmaps, illustrates enablers and risks
- Captures and communicates Global Design’s needs, potential business value, hosts workshops
- Passionate and knowledgeable about the technology and opportunities
- Plans, frames, and executes innovation projects with project manager support
- Helps Global Design community understand who, when, where, and how to apply technology
- Collaborates with Lab Engineers and IT to align Global Design’s needs with potential solutions
- Validates solutions by hosting demo/testing activities
- Ensures production readiness plan will meet Global Design’s needs
- Engages with external hardware and software vendors
- Cleary articulates success areas and lessons learned
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Minimum 1 year working within Design studios and/or CGI/visualization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced high-tech environment
- High level of analytical problem-solving skills and working through ambiguity
- Ability to handle complex assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability
- Demonstrated ability to ‘lead up’ and influence cross-functionally
- Ability to present ideas and concepts for buy-in to large groups and leadership teams
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience using VRED, Unreal Engine, Alias, Blender, Gravity Sketch, PowerPoint, Excel
- Vehicle program management
- Project management
- OPEX methodologies
