Job Description: Work from Home Medical Biller
We seek a highly skilled and self-motivated individual to join our team as Medical Biller for our Nurse Practitioner Owned - Dermatology Housecall Practice. This remote position offers the flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home.
Ideal candidate will have understanding and experience in housecalls, NP owned practices and/or dermatology.
As a Medical Biller, you will work remotely and be responsible for managing the billing and coding processes for our practice, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance companies and third-party payers. Your role will be vital in streamlining our revenue cycle management and ensuring proper reimbursement for the services rendered by our providers.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of medical billing for our dermatology housecall practice. Review and verify insurance information, patient demographics, and medical records to ensure billing accuracy.
- Understand and apply coding protocols, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) codes Job
- Perform accurate and timely medical coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services for submission to insurance companies and other payers.
- Verify patients' insurance eligibility and coverage, ensuring accurate patient demographic information.
- Submit electronic and paper claims according to insurance company guidelines, including proper documentation and supporting documents.
- Research and follow up on denied or rejected claims, ensuring timely resubmission and communication with insurance companies for claim resolution.
- Monitor and track AR, ensuring accurate payment posting and timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Review EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and reconcile payments received from insurance companies against billed services, identifying any discrepancies or underpayments.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers to resolve billing inquiries and provide assistance with claim issues.
- Stay up-to-date on medical billing and coding regulations, guidelines, and changes to ensure compliance with industry standards and reimbursement policies.
- Collaborate with the billing team and other stakeholders to optimize revenue cycle management processes and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications:
- A private and quiet place to work with phone, computer, printer, and uninterrupted internet access
- In-depth knowledge of medical billing and coding practices, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
- One year of dermatology, housecalls or NP owned practice experience
- The ability to be self-motivated and to work autonomously
- Familiarity with insurance protocols, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance plans.
- Proficient in using electronic medical billing software and practice management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when coding and submitting claims.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, including understanding ICD/CPT codes to communicate with patients, providers, and other internal or external stakeholders without issues
- Proven customer service skills analyzing and solving problems with excellent outcomes
- Personable, dependable, and responsible with excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written strengths
