Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Home Health and Home Care Biller to oversee the billing and accounts receivable processes for our agency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare billing procedures, particularly in the home health and home care setting. This individual will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing claims, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring timely reimbursement for services rendered.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review patient records and documentation to accurately code and bill for services provided in compliance with state and federal regulations.
2. Submit claims to insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, Waiver Programs and other third-party payers in a timely manner.
3. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients, including obtaining pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
4. Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals to ensure maximum reimbursement for services rendered.
5. Maintain accurate billing records and documentation, including patient accounts, payments, and adjustments.
6. Collaborate with internal teams, including clinical staff and administrative personnel, to resolve billing discrepancies and address billing inquiries.
7. Stay up-to-date on changes in healthcare billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies.
8. Assist with the development and implementation of billing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
9. Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and insurance providers regarding billing inquiries and concerns.
10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in healthcare billing, with specific experience in home health or home care billing preferred.
3. Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
4. Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding principles.
5. Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, Waiver Programs, and commercial insurance billing requirements and regulations.
6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, staff, and insurance providers.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
10. Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive patient information.
