The EDD Workforce Services Branch (WSB) is soliciting for highly motivated candidates to apply for a Deputy Division Chief position in the Special Initiatives Support Section (SISS) in the Central Office Workforce Services Division (COWSD). Under the general direction of the COWSD Chief, the Deputy Division Chief is responsible for all functions carried out within the SISS. Working with the COWSD Chief and Deputy Director of the Workforce Services Branch (WSB), the incumbent ensures statewide program accountability for funds administered by WSB such as, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Wagner-Peyser (W-P) Act, National Dislocated Worker Grants (NDWG), Disability policies and initiatives, Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG), Special Workforce System Initiatives, and other workforce programs and activities performed by state and local entities. The incumbent is responsible for developing and disseminating policy guidance and related information necessary to create a seamless service structure across the WPA, WIOA, and related programs. This includes providing policy and procedural guidance to department staff, as well as Local Workforce Development Area staff and partners who serve job seekers and employers in hundreds of locations throughout California.

About WSB:
The Workforce Services Branch (WSB) administers the Workforce Innovation and OpportunityAct (WIOA) and Wagner-Peyser (W-P) programs which prepare adults, youth, and dislocated workers for participation in the workforce and brings employers with job openings together with qualified job seekers. The WSB is comprised of three Field Divisions which directly deliver services to the public across California: Los Angeles/Coastal Division, Northern Division, and Southern Division. The WSB's Central Office Workforce Services Division supports EDD staff in the field and provides program guidance to WIOA-funded partners located throughout California. The Deputy Director's office oversees the Branch personnel program, risk management program, statewide workforce initiatives and participates in the development of policy and funding strategies in support of the workforce system.

The position is located at 722 Capitol Mall in the heart of downtown Sacramento within walking distance to light rail, farmer's market during the summer months, the Golden 1 Center, the California State Capitol, historical Old Sacramento and an eclectic collection of retailers, restaurants, food trucks and entertainment venues. Electric bike and scooter rentals are readily available. The EDD provides a 100% discount to select commuter methods with pick-up/drop-off locations close to the office.

Working Conditions
Visa Sponsorship
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
This position is considered "hybrid" with on-site work two days a week at 722 Capitol Mall and telework three days a week, on average, dependent on operational needs. Currently in office days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
