GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Directly responsible to the Recreation Supervisor. Supervise the operation of your camp. Initiate and implement a safe, efficient, and effective program. Evaluate the progress of programs, campers, and staff.
BASIC FUNCTIONS TO BE PERFORMED BY EMPLOYEE:
- Responsible for staff onsite training during orientation. Instruct all staff on the Staff Manual and to thoroughly get to know the County Code & Safety Plan Rules and Regulations set by the Board of Health.
- Responsible for organizing camp-wide activities. Plan daily activity schedules and events for the season.
- Responsible for maintaining and documenting all required regulations set in the Safety Manual, example, camper & staff lists, attendance log, medical log, fire drills, staff records, etc.
- Serve as a resource person for staff, with regards to programming, activities, and teaching methods.
- Responsible for evaluating all staff.
- Handle disciplinary problems. Follow up on parent complaints, camper problems and staff problems prior to the end of each day. Record and submit incident and accident reports. Report all incidents to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Manage and maintain all camp equipment and inventory.
- Coordinate and conduct staff meetings.
- Create a weekly newsletter to submit to the Recreation Department.
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- College education or at least 21 years of age or older. At least 24 weeks of previous administrative supervisory experience in camps or equivalent experience acceptable to the State Commissioner of Health.
- Experience working with children. Must have a good character, integrity, and ability to adapt to camp setting. Ability to supervise staff, make scheduling assignments, order supplies.
- Must have valid certification in Responding to Emergencies and CPR.
- The Director will be required to complete and submit two(2) mandatory New York State clearance forms to work with children.
- At least two (2) letters of reference are required
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
