The Role:

Data & Reporting Analyst

The Data & Reporting Analyst will help define and stabilize the data model for Captivate's wealth of data. This is a key position reporting directly to Director of Creative Technology and Analytics, contributing to Captivate's organizational data management practices and centralized reporting strategy. This role's responsibilities will include driving Captivate's Business Intelligence tool development and contributing to the Captivate organizational data model, positioning the company for rapid scalability and enabling data-driven decisions across all business units. Our goal is to be able to make observations and recommendations as subject matter experts in respect to all operations: Ad Sales, Revenue, Real Estate, Finance, Customer Success, Editorial, Marketing, Traffic and other business units with confidence and regularity.


What You'll Do:


  • Build reports and develop dashboards to monitor end-to-end business operations utilizing Business Intelligence and Integration tools
  • Work with leadership team to clearly define and document reporting requirements and KPI's to enable data-driven decisions
  • Lead collaborative efforts across the business to understand processes and pain points, as well as evaluate, recommend, and drive people, process, and technology improvements that align with Captivates strategy
  • Meet with business owners and end users to proactively collect business requirements and apply systems analysis techniques and procedures to determine feasibility and sensibility of systems, implementations and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Leverage APIs and iPaaS platforms; monitor data quality, accuracy, and consistency; simplify and automate data extraction, transformation, and load activities wherever possible
  • Participate in the construction, communication, and execution of an organization-wide data cleansing action plan
  • Contribute to ongoing system implementations, preparing data and managing migration activities for item, inventory, order, financial and master data
  • Identify, manage, resolve, and track client issues as they arise, using various agile development toolsets such as Confluence, Jira.
  • Support system conversions, upgrades, enhancements
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with platforms, data discrepancies, alerts etc.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis, insight requests, and data extractions to resolve critical business issues
  • Prepare time and cost estimates for completing tasks and projects
  • Be resourceful and practical in a dynamic and fast paced environment

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience and proven track record of success in data management and leading reporting and business insight initiatives
  • A high-level of emotional intelligence, and an ability to work with and influence a diverse setof internal stakeholders within fast moving entrepreneurial culture
  • Proven experience working with hybrid (onshore and offshore) development and support teams
  • Ability to interact with and influence business stakeholders and adapt style as needed for technical or non-technical audiences
  • An ability to understand business process and requirements and translate them into actionable and reportable metrics
  • An ability to cleanse and link complicated and disparate data sets from multiple sources
  • Proficient knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write basic queries and perform application troubleshooting analysis at the database level
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify requirement conflicts and bring clarity to business objectives, requirements and priorities.
  • Experience with modern BI tools
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus
  • Knowledge of any ETL product; SSIS is a plus
  • Automated deployment and release management is a plus
  • Knowledge of using Atlassian Confluence Wiki and JIRA tools is a plus

Where You'll Be:

  • At Captivate, we have a strong office culture and have started to work in-person Tuesdays to Thursdays, with the option to work remote on Mondays and Fridays.
  • This role is based in our Lowell, MA office.
