A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works: Engineering & Construction, Data Program.
Definition of Responsibilities
The candidate will become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific software applications utilized within the department. Such software applications will include but are not limited to applications such as: Workday, Cityworks, Power Automate-SharePoint applications, Power BI, BlueBeam and ArcGIS. Responsibilities will also include providing training and assistance to office personnel with the use applications deployed within the department. In addition, applicant will also be expected to update data, customize reports, develop and prepare Quick Reference Cards (QRC's) and other documentation(s) for deployment, training and administrative analysis within the Department.

Examples of Duties
Under general supervision, the candidate will be responsible for implementing new automated systems and workflow procedures within the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT), utilizing software applications deployed within the department.
Essential Job Duties
  • Assists in identifying, evaluating, compiling, standardizing and implementing workflow processes within DPWT.
  • Becomes proficient with any new and existing software applications implemented and/or deployed within DPWT, as needed.
  • Provides training on any software applications implemented within the Department.
  • Provides hands-on training with individual personnel, as well as video training sessions.
  • Prepares training documents, including Quick Reference Cards and other training documentation necessary for successful deployment, implementation and use of software applications and workflow processes.
  • Prepares workflow solution documentation as required to assist in successful software deployments or new workflow protocols.
  • Assists in the preparation of queries, reports and publishing of data from various applications as required.
  • Gathers necessary data and/or information from users, databases and other resources for analysis in development and implement of new automation workflow processes and protocols.
  • Acts as administrator for file transfer sites.

Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate high school equivalency.
Plus
Three years of computer system experience.
(Additional education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
Licenses and CertificatesPossession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.

Conditions of Employment

Salary
Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.
Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.

Health Insurance
