Job description

Role: A counter sales representative takes orders, answers questions, solves problems and does what it takes to promote and maintain goodwill between the company and our customers. A counter sales representative is frequently called on to make deliveries to customers locations.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Three to five years’ experience in the industrial supply or electrical field (distribution, machine/panel builder, industrial maintenance, electrical contractor) preferred.
  • A person who has integrity, a positive attitude, and is friendly, organized, accurate, reliable, and team oriented
  • Computer literate and competent in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent phone and communication skills, a good listener, with the ability to multi-task
  • Must have the desire, ability, and aptitude to learn
  • Clean driving record and a current chauffeur’s license

Physical Demands: Vision correctible to 20/20 and normal hearing are required. Possible standing at a counter for long periods of time. Lifting of up to 80 lbs. as required to retrieve product for customers.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday most weeks with possible overtime to meet customer and company needs. Work schedule can vary but will normally be scheduled during regular work hours sometime between 7:30am - 5:00 pm. Average work week is 40 to 50 hours. Possible weekends on occasion.

Job Duties:

  • Greet customers as they enter the retail area
  • Enter customer orders
  • Retrieve product from the warehouse for the customer
  • Accept payment for counter sales
  • Open, Close and Balance the cash drawer
  • Answer the phone
  • Process customer returns
  • Constant training and learning of our industry and all the products we sell and support
  • Deliver product to customers locations using company vehicles

Counter Sales Representatives are expected to develop relationships with our customers by providing a valuable service that our customers need. We also want our customers to call us not only because of our dependability and ability to assist them with their problems but also because they enjoy the positive professional manner in which they were treated. Ultimately this will allow us to grow our sales and increase our market share.

Counter Sales Representatives are expected to conduct themselves in a highly professional manner. Our sales personnel should display a courteous, friendly and helpful attitude to all internal and external customers. They are expected to be able to service our customers promptly with excellent product knowledge skills and a passion to help the customers with their needs in a fast, friendly, and flexible manner. When our customers deal with our Counter Sales Representatives they should come away knowing they were treated friendly and respectfully and that their needs were professionally met. Our customers should be able to depend on our services and know that they are always being treated fairly with their best interest in mind.

Counter Sales Representatives are expected to assist our customers in identifying and supplying the best possible product available to meet the customer’s needs. Counter Sales Representatives are expected to have a complete understanding of electrical and industrial products.

Counter Sales representatives are expected to gather and forward market information they come across in interacting with customers.

Counter Sales representatives are expected to personify our quality policy.
