PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Salary to be commensurate with experience
The hiring range for this position is $22.90 - $28.63/hourly

Aurora Water
Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and collection, public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health.
OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Customer Service Representative provides Customer Service to all Aurora Water customers that contact the Water Billing & Customer Service call center, creates work orders for water related emergencies, scheduling and dispatching of various types of appointments and performs other water account related activities that include water billing review, adjustment and explanation
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides Customer Service to clients by answering phone calls and responding to inquiries for all of Aurora Water operations
  • Reads and interprets map information
  • Schedules, coordinates appointments, and maintains workloads for customers and contractors
  • Receives, interprets and appropriately dispatches emergency and routine service calls to field personnel
  • Inputs data to modify, adjust, correct, or update department information, checks, compiles, and records data
  • Prepares, issues, monitors, and distributes departmental documents and reports
  • Enters and reviews data, generates, and closes work orders as required
  • Assists with training other personnel in Operations Service Center functions
  • Operates a variety of office equipment including personal computers with related software
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED

Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of clerical and technical experience to include working with a variety of computer system.
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of business English, math, office practices and procedures, and administrative support functions
  • Knowledge of data entry and retrieval procedures, computer systems including related software applications
  • PC operation for both major software packages and internet activity
  • May require some knowledge of departmental systems and procedures
Abilities:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Compile and prepare reports
  • Work independent of supervision, and use a variety of office equipment including a desktop computer to meet deadlines and schedules
  • Work with a variety of data sources
  • Ability to adopt proper workflow measures and turn-around time in tasks
  • Ability to assess time requirements and multi-task
  • Ability to handle emergency situations with tact, diplomacy, and efficiency
Skills:
  • Skill in computer operations and software applications including database applications
  • Efficiently and accurately key information using a keyboard
  • Skill in reading and interpreting map information
  • Bilingual skills preferred; Customer Service aptitude

Licenses and/or Certificates:
    • None

Essential Personnel:
  • When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
  • Light physical work lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination for operation of office equipment
  • Vision for reading and interpreting reports and data analysis and preparation
  • Frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communication with employees and citizens
  • Considerable walking and standing; frequent pushing, pulling, and climbing
Equipment Used:
  • Frequently uses standard office equipment including computer, calculator, multi-line telephones, and copy/fax machines
  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g.vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
