If so, the Custom Development Manager position is for you!
As the Custom Development Manager, you are directly responsible for the highly skilled team of developers leveraging .Net, ASPX and Crystal Reports to extend ECi Solutions Manufacturing Division ERP'S to greater lengths for our customers. As the Custom Development Manager, you oversee a unique blend of business development and software development projects for our SMB clientele. Defining processes to ensure operational compliance within the software development life cycle is a key component within your management responsibilities.
The Custom Development Manager will work with customers and new prospects to scope and qualify requests for quotes on custom projects. Customer requests include a variety of projects from simple modifications of canned reports, to complex integrations to 3rd party applications, to data imports and conversions. Your ability to diagnose complex technical business problems and implement creative solutions will be crucial for the success of this position.
Daily tasks for this role also include managing a combination of employees, independent contractors and contracting firms providing a wide range of skills and capacity to support the business demands. As the Custom Development Manager, you will be responsible for maximizing this team's capacity to drive monthly revenue performance while optimizing efficiency, meeting timelines and ensuring a high quality of product delivery. In the event of customer escalation tied to a custom solutions project, as the manager, you will be responsible to mitigate the problem, drive resolution and ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Accurately forecast ongoing monthly revenue and attain budget target goals
- Gather customers business requirements, determine feasibility and ballpark estimated costs
- Consult with custom team members to ensure a good match between resource and project
- Audit statements of work/quotes created by custom resources to ensure accuracy in defined scope and hours
- Maintain service level agreement in response for quotes of custom solutions
- Review project paperwork to ensure operational compliance
- Facilitate communication between the customer and custom resource
- Ensure custom projects are delivered on time and within budget using proven project management methodologies
- Conduct periodic code reviews to assess the expected level of quality in custom coding projects
- Ensure redundancy exists within the team to deliver custom solutions
- Collaborate with marketing to rollout new custom solutions
- Ensure custom capacity is meeting demand
- Manage and supervise an existing team of custom independent contractors and employees
- Mentor the team by meeting regularly, analyzing demand/capacity and a good balance of each, discuss career development goals, writing and delivering annual performance reviews
- Manage all escalations tied to custom solution projects
- Participate in leadership meetings by representing custom solutions
- Create and deliver presentations as requested
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Management Information Systems
Requirements
- Minimum ten years of experience delivering software solutions to manufacturing businesses
- Working knowledge of ERP solutions and relational databases
- Strong technical skills with one or more of the following: C#, Javascript, HTML, API's, JSON, ASP.NET, and VB.NET
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL (for database & queries)
- Knowledge of Visual Studio, SQL Reporting Services, and Crystal Report writing
- Working knowledge of job shops and/or manufacturing processes is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to gather user requirements and manage the delivery of a client solution
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Solution-oriented, with problem-solving skills
- Previous experience managing teams and/or projects
