Job Description:
The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position.
The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Custodian. This is a Full-Time permanent state position located at the Rees Training Center in Hermiston, Oregon.
This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees' (AFSCME) union.

What You Will be Doing
Provide semi-skilled facility maintenance and repair, and general cleaning to National Guard facilities, in support of the Oregon Army National Guard, and the Operations and Maintenance Branch of the Oregon Military Department, and in compliance with State and Federal laws or regulations, policies, manuals, and procedures.
Working Conditions
Works in an environment containing dust, odor, loud noises and chemicals. Works from ladders to clean walls and change lights. Exposed to unsanitary conditions and hazardous chemicals and materials. Work involves stooping and reaching for extended periods. Works in varied weather conditions. Required to lift at least 50 pounds and carry heavy objects. Must perform duties in appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). May be required to work outside normal duty hours to accommodate emergency requirements.
What You Need to Qualify
Candidate must be 18 years old at time of hire.
-AND-
One (1) year of custodial experience that included operating equipment needed to perform custodial duties.
Additional Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid driver license and acceptable driving record. (This position requires travel within the geographic boundaries of the assigned maintenance area).
Desired Special Qualifications
Experience with general building maintenance
Ability to work from heights.
Experience in floor care, tile, carpet and sports floors
Knowledge of proper chemical use and storage
Knowledge of sanitizing and disinfecting.
Knowledge of when and how to properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment, employee must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination.
Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM's, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
Work Experience

Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.
