Part Time Custodial Job Description

Overview of Position
This custodial position is from 3:00-7:00pm, Monday through Friday for a total of 20 hours per week.
Additional weekend hours may be available when custodian services are needed following weekend events in the facility.

Professional Relationships
1. The individual in this position reports directly to the Director of Facilities.
2. The individual in this position is supported by the members of Immanuel Lutheran Church and works for the members, ultimately in service to God.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Displays a loving relationship with Jesus and is deeply committed to His service.
2. Must be a self-starter with the ability to follow through on tasks assigned.
3. Able to stand, walk, and bend for the duration of the shift.
4. Able to lift 30-50 pounds.
5. Able to be cognizant of the time needed for completing the daily work and move from one task to the next as needed.
6. Able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and communicate effectively when issues arise.
7. Able to maintain a positive attitude in relationships with people and work effectively with team members to unselfishly support other staff members of both church and school.
8. Possesses an attitude of service with the willingness to help when necessary.
9. Understands and enthusiastically supports the purpose of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, our mission, vision, and core values, and will strive towards the Marks of Discipleship.
10. Eighteen years of age or older and pass a background check.
Desired Skills
1. Previous custodial experience.
2. Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
3. Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time.
4. Experience with cleaning equipment including, but not limited to, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, and cleaning solutions.
5. A background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals.
6. Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules.
7. Ability to communicate well with others.
8. Ability to lift and climb ladders.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure the building are safe for use and exceed regulatory and internal expectations. This includes day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds. It also includes all cleaning protocols.
2. Keep floors clean by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming.
3. Gather and empty trash and recyclables.
4. Dust furniture, walls, and equipment.
5. Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
6. Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions provided.
7. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors, furniture, and fixtures.
8. Notify Director of Facilities when damage is found while cleaning and there is a need for repair.
9. Other duties as assigned.
