Summary
The Cultivation Manager oversees indoor cultivation activities at our Ewing, NJ facility in collaboration with Executive Management and Site Leadership. This position develops annual cultivation plans in conjunction with the General Manager and, is responsible for the on-going management of yield at assigned grows.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Oversees human and material resources within the Ewing, NJ cultivation department
- Trains staff on cultivation methods and procedures and provides on-going coaching and development to cultivation staff to ensure all commitments defined in the annual cultivation plan are being met.
- Monitors and administers nutrient and irrigation care plans and environmental controls and
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring assigned team members are following OSHA regulations, organization standards and legal regulations
- Ensures all assigned staff maintain required OSHA and pesticide credentials.
- Governs the application of chemicals, fertilizers and other materials to site crops
- Assesses site level growth systems and reports to the General Manager to ensure the site is optimizing yield to the greatest extent possible
- Continually identifies and implements business process improvements in partnership with other members of the Cultivation team
- Hires, trains and develops Cultivation Management staff in accordance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Conducts regular meetings with assigned employees to assess goal, objective, and task performance and identify developmental opportunities.

Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Biology, Genetics, or closely related field (or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience) required
- Able to achieve 5 turns a year out of each production room at 60g a sqft minimum no less.
- 5 or more years of commercial cultivation experience, including at least 3 or more years in supervisory role
- Working knowledge of a wide range of cannabis strains; ability to detect and differentiate strains during various growth and bloom stages
- Ability to identify various anthropoids. Basic understanding of pest management
- Excellent olfactory senses, ability to detect subtle volatile molecular odorants from cannabis terpenes in various conditions and stages
- Knowledge of cannabis genetic origins and associated nutrient requirements
- Proficient in cannabis cultivation irrigate techniques and principals as well as canopy management.
- Experience in a high-volume, fast paced start up environment
- Strong oral and written communication experience
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Teams
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for performance management, coaching, supervision, fostering teamwork, training and development of six or more employees.

Work is performed in a busy cannabis nursery facility, consisting of indoor conditions. The cultivation areas are loud due to fans and filtration systems.
Work may require prolonged sitting/standing, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate; farm equipment, off road/road vehicles, a computer, greenhouse monitoring tools, telephone, calculator and other equipment. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires close vision with the ability to see color and adjust focus. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and push/pull up to 100 pounds also use assistance (multiple people, forklift, dolly, etc.) when lifting/moving over 100 pounds.
