Job description

Purpose

We are currently seeking a dynamic and skilled Cultivation Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in managing irrigation and environmental controls across all our gardens. Additionally, this individual will assist in managing a team of up to 40 people and training new hires on all aspects related to cultivation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute tasks in the garden based on standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain collaborative logs and checklists as assigned.
  • Daily cleaning, sanitation, and janitorial tasks to maintain a clean work environment.
  • Deep cleaning, sanitation, and janitorial tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in the assembly, operation, and maintenance of irrigation and fertigation equipment.
  • Assist in the assembly, operation, and maintenance of environmentally controlled cultivation spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with state tracking rules and company policy as it pertains to seed-to-sale tracking.
  • Understand and monitor growing conditions in cultivation spaces.
  • Learn to inspect cannabis plants during all phases of growth and under various conditions to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Pest management tasks as assigned.
  • Harvesting cannabis, weighing, and tracking of cannabis and cannabis waste.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by management.
  • Irrigation and Environmental Control Management:
    • Oversee fertigation, irrigation, and environmental control systems
    • Oversee and optimize irrigation systems for all cultivation spaces
    • Implement and maintain environmental control systems, including temperature, humidity, and light, to create optimal growing conditions.
    • Monitor and analyze data related to environmental conditions and irrigation, making adjustments as needed to maximize crop yields and quality.
  • Co-Management of Cultivation Team:
    • Collaborate with the Director of Cultivation and Supervisors to lead and direct the cultivation teams effectively.
    • Support team members in daily tasks, providing guidance and mentoring to enhance productivity and job satisfaction.
    • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Co-Training and Onboarding:
    • Assist in developing comprehensive training programs for new hires, covering all aspects of cultivation, irrigation, environmental controls, and tissue culture.
    • Participate in onboarding sessions to educate new team members about company policies, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
    • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to existing team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in cultivation techniques.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Ensure all cultivation processes comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company guidelines.
    • Implement quality control measures to maintain consistently high crop standards and minimize product defects.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Cultivation and other Supervisors, Compliance and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to local and federal regulations governing agricultural practices.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Utilize data analytics to evaluate crop performance, resource usage, and productivity metrics.
    • Prepare regular reports and presentations for Director of Cultivation, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven experience in irrigation management and environmental controls within a horticultural or agricultural setting.
  • Previous experience in team management and a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce.
  • Advanced understanding of cultivation techniques, crop cycles, and best practices in the horticulture and agricultural industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

  • All applicants must be residing in Deland, Florida, or willing to commute.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a level 2 background screening in Florida.

Work Environment:
This role operates in a warehouse with several environmentally controlled spaces. Environments inside cultivation spaces are subject to large variations in humidity, temperature, Co2, and light exposure. This role routinely uses mechanical, irrigation, and lighting equipment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms and may be required to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

Schedule - Tuesday – Saturday

Travel:

This position may require light travel.
