Online Family Program instructors implement four-week online courses for students in four grade bands ranging from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade in Schoology, Center for Talent Development’s (CTD) learning management system. Instructors facilitate weekly lessons that include hands-on explorations and assignments to be carried out by students and their parents, with more student independence in the highest grade bands. Instructors establish a welcoming, appropriate online environment by providing feedback and encouraging enriching exchanges among classmates.
Instructors also orient and support parents by modeling how to engage students in critical and
creative thinking through challenging, playful, learning opportunities.
Pay
- $100 development stipend for new courses only
- $525 to facilitating developed courses
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of teaching experience
- Experience developing and teaching online courses, experience with Schoology a plus
- Master’s degree and experience in parent-child teaching, a plus
- Subject matter expertise as appropriate
General Responsibilities
- Facilitate and possibly design a course within Schoology based on a syllabus and containing four weekly modules; each module must introduce new content and include challenging activities and assignments appropriate to a range of student background knowledge and skill levels
- Monitor discussion posts and assignment submissions on a daily basis to provide timely, meaningful feedback and encourage content-oriented, appropriate discussion between members of the course
- Model for parents and adult caregivers how to support their student’s interests and challenge their abilities
- Complete CTD’s online course for Online Family Program instructors as preparation to implement applicable Center for Talent Development best practices, policies and procedures
- Assume program-related responsibilities and communication as requested by CTD administrative staff
