TITLE: Children’s Program Coordinator
FT/PT: Full time (35+ hours per week, may include some evenings and weekends)
CLASSIFICATION: Salaried – Non- Exempt
PAY GROUP: Grade 18
REPORTS TO: Program Director
SUPERVISES: Advocate
FUNCTION: The Children’s Program Coordinator has the responsibility to supervise and to provide counseling and social service advocacy primarily to child/teen clients of Family Rescue as well as to children and teens identified through public school program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides guidance to children’s program staff, providing them with adequate support and feed back to carry out the project directives.
- Provide direct services including individual and group counseling.
- Conduct evaluations of advocates, interns and or volunteers
- Develop Service Plans jointly with each client/parent. Will continuously monitor progress of the client(s), and adjust service plans as necessary. Goals and objectives as well as time frames must be clearly specified.
- Provide tutoring sessions for child/teen.
- Coordinate recognition programs for the child/teen.
- Coordinate and provide opportunities for the child/teen to participate in activities that are social, recreational and educational.
- Observe and assess child/teen progress, actions, interactions and their needs.
- Coordinate methods to meet child/teen learning needs through; daily program activities, individual therapeutic work, participation in family conference, and referral to other resources as necessary.
- On behalf of the client and/or Family Rescue, will coordinate and advocate with outside entities which may include; social service organizations, mental health organizations, substance abuse organizations, housing organizations and/or legal/law enforcements agencies, etc.
- Provide community presentations/trainings to both public and private entities.
- Serves as a liaison between Family Rescue and the community at large.
- Works with internal agency programs to link clients to appropriate services.
- Provide effective case management/documentation which includes completing all required documentation in a timely manner and maintaining records, files, reports etc. as directed.
- Conduct quarterly reviews and monitor all client files.
- Complete intake/screening of clients for services.
- Provide follow-up service to clients once they have left Family Rescue services.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings etc. as required and/or scheduled.
- Other Duties as assigned.
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in picking up and distribution of donations.
- Research and/or gather resources to directly assist clients and/or to perform job.
- Assist in the up-keep (cleaning) of office/building space(s).
- Provide assistance with transportation to scheduled appointments.
- Assist in other programs both inter-agency as well as inter-program.
- Responsible for new staff orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- A Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or related field with one (1) year of applicable experience.
- Will consider a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education with two (2) or more year’s applicable experience.
- Must have 40-hour domestic violence training (within 3 months of hire date).
- Must be Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (within 1 year of hire date).
- Must be CPR/first aid certified (within 6 months of hire)
- Must obtain Food Handling certification (within 6 months of hire)
