The Corrugated Sourcing Specialist has responsibility over Corrugated Sourcing and item development within the branch(s) served. To ensure that the needs of the customer and Shorr Packaging are met, the Corrugated Sourcing Specialist will work closely with Sales, Design, Procurement and Branch Management to ensure that we are focused on opportunities that fit within predetermined guidelines. These guidelines will include evaluation of vendor capabilities, vendor market competitiveness, sales margin, space requirements, and current work load of support staff and overall profitability of the opportunity. The Corrugated Sourcing Specialist will assist Procurement with new item set up and first order inbound inspection.
- Ownership for framing corrugated quoting opportunities
- Manage item quotes within appropriate Shorr systems
- Engage and inform appropriate Procurement person(s) of customer needs and vendor selection(s)
- Responsible for new item information required by Procurement
- Manage a transitional role with new item set-up, first order placement and first order incoming inspection with Procurement
- Manage the interactions between Sales, Procurement and Vendors to ensure focus on prospect / customer requirements
- Must be able to assist Corrugated Product Manager and Procurement in managing and developing appropriate aspects of vendor relations
- Remain current on local market equipment, capabilities and efficiencies.
- Work with and assist the Sales Representatives in the preparation of corrugated proposals with regards to local corrugated market competitiveness
- With respect to current corrugated business, the Corrugated Sourcing Specialist will assist with engineer cost out of the current offering including stock boxes
- Corrugated supply base knowledge
- The ability to understand target cost levels required
- High attention to detail
- Strong written communication skills / Excel & Word
- Experience and poise in front of customers
- Providing product education
- Listening to clients and using astute questioning to understand, anticipate and exceed their needs
- Negotiating to meet both client and company needs
- Assists sales reps as necessary in the development and close of corrugated opportunities
- Coordinate implementation issues to include tooling ownership, unitizing requirements and delivery needs for both the customer and Shorr facilities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or Five to Eight years direct corrugated manufacturing plant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Microsoft Office with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
