• Focused on a combination of packaging & product design and will be responsible for assisting the creative team with the following: design research, design concepts, sketching, and ideation.
• This position will research, create concept sketches, design products, use Solidworks 3D modeling, 3D printing and collaborate closely with operations, CAD designers, and product managers

• Receive new design requests directly from customers, sales partners, customer service reps, or business unit resource manager and gather key specification data
• Translate requirements and specification data to conceptualize and create packaging that meets customer’s needs and expectations
• Produce product design documentation such as concept sketches, technical drawings, and illustrations that define and communicate design intent
• Leverage equipment expertise and knowledge of corrugated facility and machinery, board combinations, customer’s wants and needs, and customer’s capabilities to inform product design
• Collaborate with manufacturing stakeholders to review and discuss new product designs, answer design questions, ensure that products are manufacturable, and incorporate revisions to the design based on feedback from the manufacturing team
• Support customer discussions and presentations by supplying all design documentation, leading product design overviews, and answering all customer questions related to the product design
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring critical milestones are met and all hours and related resources expended in the support of the work done to complete assignments are tracked and documented
• Consistently act as a key design point of contact with customers and account managers through open and ongoing communications
• Partner with and guide graphic artist to ensure graphic elements are incorporated in the product design in a manner that is production ready
• Delegate, as appropriate, design tasks and deliverables to design team
• Coach and mentor peers and other members of the design team to build capability and learn best practices

• BS/BA in Packaging Engineering, Graphic Design or related or an equivalent of 5+ years in a corrugating, printing, finishing operation as a structural packaging design engineer

• 5+ years design packaging needs for customers in a corrugated operation
• Must have experience with CAD, prefer experience with ArtiosCAD
• Strong understanding of related equipment’s capabilities
• Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, resource development, and strategic planning.
• Creative, problem-solver, solution oriented, and a demonstrated team player.
• Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
• Flexible and able to multitask; can work with an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
• Experience creating and executing practical solutions problems in a manufacturing environment
• Prefer experience working with a custom packaging operation
