Job Description
The Construction Technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks. These tasks include performing various repairs, ranging from minor to major, from unskilled to highly skilled, and include (but not limited to): painting, drywall repair, remodeling, minor plumbing work, minor electrical work, general carpentry, and trim carpentry.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform construction activities
- Perform basic installation and minor repair to a variety of flooring systems, including but not limited to carpeting, vinyl, hardwood, and laminate.
- Perform basic drywall repairs, including but not limited to hanging, taping and finishing.
- Perform installation of trim, base, and other molding components.
- Perform installation of doors and door hardware.
- Perform installation of cabinets, countertops, and cabinet components.
- Perform basic painting tasks including caulking and filling crevices.
- Perform basic installation and repair of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems and components
- Perform installation of lighting components.
- Perform basic installation of common appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves, ovens, etc.
- Perform installation of residential windows and components.
- Perform board ups as necessary.
- Repair punch list items as required.
- Perform basic cleanup as work is completed.
- Provide Customer Communication and Support as needed
- Provide customers with support and guidance on usage of installed appliances, systems or components.
Additional Responsibilities
Ensure all work is completed to industry standards, local codes, and requirements of the scope of work.
Suggest additional repairs when identified and needed.
Document all work performed as directed.
Execute work orders in a timely manner.
Necessary Experience and Skill Set
- 2 years of construction experience
- Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving
- Effective written and oral communication
- Basic math skills
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment, tools, and their application
- Basic knowledge and relevant experience with common plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Possess good carpentry skills, including trim work and framing
- High school diploma/GED
Walking and/or standing throughout the day. Frequently climbing ladders. Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme conditions such as heat. The noise level in the work environment and jobsites can be loud. Must have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Normal Working Hours, Additional Working Hours, and Travel Requirements
This is a full-time position, working 7:00 a.m.5:00 p.m., MondayFriday, 45 hours per week. This position frequently requires long hours (beyond 8 hours a day), working on-call, and weekend work. Travel is required and is primarily local. However, some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
