QA Technician
Overview
A Quality Technician tests and inspects products and parts in the manufacturing environment to ensure
the quality of the products. The technician works on a variety of parts and products in all phases of
production. The quality assurance program of CAB aims to stop wasteful production or poor quality parts
and helps to ensure that customers do not receive non-conforming parts or products.
Function
The QAT monitors the production process to determine if the parts or products are meeting
quality specifications. The QAT can use established sampling techniques to determine if the
process is adequate, machines are operating properly or if materials used are non-conforming.
Early intervention in the QA process is critical to reduce time and cost in the manufacturing
process.
Work Activities: key tasks and responsibilities
Inspect parts visually for defects and perform tests that inspect the conformity of a
part or product.
Uses various test tools or equipment to ensure the part meets specification and
customer requirements.
Records information from tests and inspections to help determine future needs in the
sampling process.
Computes cost factors used for preparing estimates for management and determining
cost effectiveness.
Consults with production, engineering, estimating, management, vendors, or other
individuals to discuss and formulate estimates, process changes, and resolve issues.
Prepares production documents such as travelers and job folders in the QA process.
Consults account managers to determine if process is adequate for controlling the
quality process for specific customers and products.
Maintains a strong attention to detail and able to read and follow blueprints, drawings
and schematics to determine specifications of parts and materials.
Must be experienced in the use of associated test equipment and methods including
computer data entry and document development.
Able to communicate with employees on the production floor, office and management
in a clear and informed manner.
Understands CAB QA manual and processes clearly and concisely
Hours
Sometimes work more than 40 hours a week, especially when customer deadlines must
be met.
This is an hourly position.
Job Requirements
Education
High school diploma or GED required
Experience
Prefer a background in quality inspection and documentation
