Job Description: Construction Project Accountant

We are looking for a Construction Accountant to join our team. As a Construction Accountant you will be responsible for managing construction costs, preparing financial reports, preparing pay applications, paying vendors/subcontractors, and overseeing the financials of complicated Construction Projects from start to finish. The ability to use SAGE accounting software is a plus! COMPETITIVE PAY DEPENDING ON APPLICANT'S SKILL SET AND EXPERIENCE.
Duties:
- Prepare and reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly reports and statements.
- Issue purchase orders.
- Assist with Tax reports with Corporate Accounting
- Maintain financial records including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and mange billings
- Issue payments to subcontractors and vendors
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and track all costs related to Construction Projects, including cost coding
- Review contractor's bills for accuracy and completeness, and approve payment requests
- Process invoices, requisitions, and purchase orders
- Research and invoice and billing disputes with contractors
- Audit all accounts against contractual terms, budgets, and time schedules
- Review and approve vendor invoices and subcontractor bills
- Issue change orders through accounting system
- Maintain files on general ledger, assets, contracts, warranties, insurances
- Issue pay applications to clients
- Issue change orders to subcontracts
- Work with project managers to create cost projections and profitability reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration
- 4+ years of accounting experience in construction or real estate development
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including cost controls, job costing, and profit/loss accounting
- Ability to understand complex billing and job costing concepts
