Construction Intern
Tribal 1 is a rapidly growing company focused on providing a full array of construction/architecture/engineering services to the federal government. Our customers include the Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs and other federal and state agencies. As a member of our team, you will get exciting opportunities to participate in the assessment, planning, design, construction or repair of government facilities and infrastructure.
The purpose of the TRIBAL1 Internship is to provide a student who is currently enrolled in a college degree-seeking program an opportunity to gain work experience skills and enhance their education in the construction industry, with an emphasis on federal contracting requirements.
Our Colorado Springs and Greenwood Village offices are seeking Interns to provide construction administration support. Typical projects include a wide variety of Federal projects, including storm water, concrete and asphalt paving, utilities, commercial buildings and related ancillary facilities.
Your Role:
  • Observing and /or interacting with various professionals related to the construction field including owners, architects, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Attending staff or departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate project-specific or coordination meetings.
  • Review of Safety job hazard analysis/OSHA training/SDS/STA/safety audits.
  • Learning and participating in the Quality Control process, including punchlist, QC checklist, testing and inspection requirements, inspection reports, etc.
  • Administrative Support, including review and assist project team with development and tracking of RFIs/submittals/material ordering and tracking.
  • Completing, updating and distributing project management communications of various types such as purchase orders, safety inspections, material and labor logs, and meeting agendas/ minutes.
  • Schedule - production reporting/trend charts/manpower tracking/SIPS.
  • Logistics - develop skills for use of project management software such as Procore and Blue Beam.
  • Planning and coordination activities.
  • Further education by observing and participating in all phases of construction; improve ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for an Intern:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completed one (1) academic year of college (24 semester credits or 36 quarterly credits) prior to internship start date.
  • Must be a current enrolled student earning a degree with an accredited college/university and/or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college/university post-graduate studies program.
  • Ability to operate MS Office at an intermediate level.
  • Positive approach to learning and the ability to take direction from various sources in different formats.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
  • Individual must be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS I-551).
  • Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
  • Valid driver's license.
