Job description

MacKay Sposito is seeking a Construction Inspector with experience in public roadway and utility construction. Experience on LAG/WSDOT funded projects is required. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for physical on-site observation, documentation, and inspection of construction projects to assess and ensure compliance with applicable contract plans and specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.

Keys to Success:
  • Experience working with City's and County's on local and federally funded projects.
  • Experience with Washington and/or other state department of transportation standards and processes.
  • Capable of managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of maintaining composure under pressure and remaining flexible despite interruptions or changes.
  • Monitor construction daily for conformance with construction contract documents.
  • Capable of observing and reporting on a variety of work including installation of road improvements, utilities, plantings, striping, signage, and traffic control.
  • Communicate and follow up with complete and accurate oral and/or written reports, including pertinent pictures, regarding the progress of the project.
  • Responsible for job specific quality assurance tasks.
  • Tracking labor and equipment for possible T&M contract work.

Qualifications:
  • Experience on LAG/WSDOT funded projects required.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Local to the Clark County, WA area (per diem not authorized for this position).
  • At least 5 years of progressive inspection experience with city, county, state or federal roadway construction.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to read, understand and verify implementation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe.
  • Current driver's license and ability to be insured to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be able to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. Site visits may include exposure to weather extremes and rough or uneven terrain.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.
The wage range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr depending on experience and placement in a Construction Inspector I - IV dictated by experience and/or client needs and requirements.

MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit sharing bonuses.
