We are hiring 2 positions - 1 at East Satellite Construction and 1 at South Satellite Construction.
About the Role:
This position will focus on the inspection of the civil and structural components of construction projects, including standalone contracts for East Satellite and South Satellite and various offsite facilities, replacements, installations, repairs and upgrades in addition to other WTD capital improvement projects that involve electrical trade work scopes. Contract value amounts vary from small <$10k work orders to large $200M+ standalone contracts.

  • Coordinate work with Project Representative, Contractor, and Operations & Maintenance team.
  • Perform construction inspections to ensure construction is compliant with the contract specifications and plans.
  • Conduct construction and condition assessment inspections on a variety of small, short range, facility projects. Ensure quality work performed.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with wastewater treatment requirements.
  • Document work performed in the Daily Inspection Report and upload to SharePoint and asset management databases.
  • Take photo documentation and upload to SharePoint.
  • Apply experience and help solve construction problems.

Qualifications You Bring:
  • Two years of technical school training in civil engineering, or a related technical field and one (1) years of progressively responsible construction inspection or sub-professional engineering experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with managing construction activities in operational environments and knowledge of hazards and safety procedures involved.
  • Knowledge of the construction of mechanical and structural facilities, especially as applied to wastewater treatment or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and contract specifications as applied to wastewater treatment facility and large conveyance systems.
  • Ability to inspect materials and workmanship and recognize deficiencies and omissions requiring correction.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction laws, ordinances, codes, regulations, specifications and standards.
  • Specialized knowledge of construction methods, techniques and cost factors, with emphasis on civil, structural and conveyance system installations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, including ability to use a computer word processing, data analysis and documentation management.

Required License:
  • A valid Washington State Driver's License.
  • Ability to drive County vehicle to various job sites each day.

  • Familiarity with excavations and shoring construction practices.

Working Conditions:

Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work onsite - this is not a telecommute position. Onsite reporting location: East Satellite Construction at 22505 State Route 9 S.E. Woodinville, WA, and South Constuction - 1200 Monster Road S.E., Renton, WA. You may also travel to various construction sites.


Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.


Work Schedule: This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.


Union Representation: This position is represented by a Technical Employees Association (TEA).
