COMSEC & NSSP Support Technician

COMSEC & NSSP Support Technicians will be required to perform the functions of 2 Alternate COMSEC Custodians and user support for the USDA Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) facility and departmental continuity communications program support.

Responsibilities Include:
- Perform departmental wide semiannual inventories.
- Process incoming / outgoing COMSEC shipments.
- Perform / Task / Track routine rekey of equipment.
- Respond to COMSEC hand receipt users request for technical support.
- Provide COMSEC training / briefings to COMSEC users.
- Coordinate security clearance verifications for COMSEC users.
- Maintain accurate and current COMSEC records.
- Produce monthly / quarterly reports for departmental / agency leadership.
- Maintain COMSEC devices to include but not limited to the following: KG 175D/F, KG 250X, KY-99M, etc.
- Process requests for access to classified systems.
- Assist users with accessing classified network systems.
- Tracks HSDN system users/usage.
- Assist users with utilizing secure communications conference rooms.
- Conduct periodic testing of secure communications systems.
- Provide secure communications support at alternate/remote facilities.
- Manage HSDN suite operations.
- Support access to the State Message Archival Retrieval Tool (SMART) System.
- Provides support for departmental GETS/WPS Program.
- Assist with the operation and management of HSDN PKI Program.
- Interfaces with other government agencies to coordinate message deliveries.
- Complete a series of mandatory online training courses.
- Adhere to all training, access and usage policies, and regulations as required by the system owner.
- Travel will be required on an Ad-hoc basis.
- Alternating 8-hour shifts required to ensure that the office is manned with full client support capabilities from 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Potential need for After Hours / On Call / and Emergency Response Support.
- Personnel may be requested to work during contingency, emergency, and Government shutdown periods.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- A current Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
- Must have completed IAEC 2112 (NSA COMSEC Managers Course) or will complete within 6 months of assignment.
- Must have completed the KMI Management Client (MGC) Operator Training Course or will complete within 6 months of assignment at contractor/company expense. This requirement may be pushed beyond 6 months based on course seat availability.
- MS Office proficient.
- Years of Experience: 4 years COMSEC management experience.
- Must be vetted and approved by PDSD prior to beginning work.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
