Position Overview
The Compliance – Health & Safety Associate supports the National Director of Safety & Compliance in executing any and all tasks related to quality, environment, health & safety (QEH&S) operations and administration with a focus on the safety initiatives of the organization. The Compliance – Health & Safety Associate enhances the National Director of Safety & Compliance’s effectiveness by performing duties necessary to improve the effectiveness of the Compliance Department. Reports to the National Director of Safety & Compliance and has no direct reports.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Executes development of a team-oriented company safety culture that emphasizes QEH&S continuous improvement, high performance and goal attainment
- Organize and execute safety training initiatives
- Aids the development of team members via corporate training programs
- Builds and maintains a network of support and relationships both internally and externally
- Assists in the monitoring and enforcement of policies and procedures that have been set forth through the Corporate Compliance and other safety related programs
- Supports managers and supervisors with team member relations and/or safety related disciplinary issues
- Maintains Health and Safety recordkeeping
- Revises the safety program in response to the changing needs of the organization, laws, and governmental policies
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the safety program and the related activities to ensure they promote an institutional culture favorable to compliance
- Facilitates company-wide communication, committee, and overall team member participation
- Oversees the day-to-day efficient operation of the safety program
- Writes, formats, and edits letters and other documents from draft to client-ready stage
- Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and/or business needs of the operation; must be able to attend charity/networking/customer events after normal business hours
- Travel as necessary
- Prepares and continuously improves KPI reporting to management
- Interfaces with the information technology team to employ, maintain, and continuously improve technology
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Characteristics
- College degree preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing / heavy industrial environment preferred
- A team member who can self-learn, self-start, self-direct is preferred
- Safety program experience preferred
