Position Overview

The Compliance – Health & Safety Associate supports the National Director of Safety & Compliance in executing any and all tasks related to quality, environment, health & safety (QEH&S) operations and administration with a focus on the safety initiatives of the organization. The Compliance – Health & Safety Associate enhances the National Director of Safety & Compliance’s effectiveness by performing duties necessary to improve the effectiveness of the Compliance Department. Reports to the National Director of Safety & Compliance and has no direct reports.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Executes development of a team-oriented company safety culture that emphasizes QEH&S continuous improvement, high performance and goal attainment
  • Organize and execute safety training initiatives
  • Aids the development of team members via corporate training programs
  • Builds and maintains a network of support and relationships both internally and externally
  • Assists in the monitoring and enforcement of policies and procedures that have been set forth through the Corporate Compliance and other safety related programs
  • Supports managers and supervisors with team member relations and/or safety related disciplinary issues
  • Maintains Health and Safety recordkeeping
  • Revises the safety program in response to the changing needs of the organization, laws, and governmental policies
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the safety program and the related activities to ensure they promote an institutional culture favorable to compliance
  • Facilitates company-wide communication, committee, and overall team member participation
  • Oversees the day-to-day efficient operation of the safety program
  • Writes, formats, and edits letters and other documents from draft to client-ready stage
  • Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and/or business needs of the operation; must be able to attend charity/networking/customer events after normal business hours
  • Travel as necessary
  • Prepares and continuously improves KPI reporting to management
  • Interfaces with the information technology team to employ, maintain, and continuously improve technology
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Characteristics

  • College degree preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing / heavy industrial environment preferred
  • A team member who can self-learn, self-start, self-direct is preferred
  • Safety program experience preferred
  • Detail oriented, ability to lead a team, provide feedback, follow up and execute /complete open initiatives Compliance – Health & Safety Associate Making a positive impact in the lives of others
  • The Company desires a candidate who has shown a stable job history, dependable attendance practices and whose references can state is a trustworthy individual
  • Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, background and credit check

Minimum Safety Training Requirements

  • Basic on-the-job training that satisfies the Primary Objectives of the specific position (as noted above)
  • US-SOP-01 United in Safety Manual
  • US-F11 QEH&S Policy
  • US-SOP-03 Team Member Handbook
  • US-SOP-04 Driver’s Handbook
