This will be a remote position.
Responsible for synthesizing and interpreting clinical, and administrative data, evaluating trends, and developing expertise in specific measure definitions and datasets. This position uses software and query skills to develop and maintain complex reporting systems that help monitor and improve performance on the organization's goals for Safety, Quality, Patient Experience, Diversity and Inclusion, and other key system-wide strategic, regulatory, and performance improvement initiatives. This position works closely on a team to facilitate and drive efficient data mining, analysis, and system-wide reporting. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst establishes standard report production and validation processes while also responding to ad hoc requests for data and information from executives and other leaders throughout the system. The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst serves as a resource and consultant across the system and at the site level to design and produce relevant dashboards and participate in developing performance improvement strategies essential to the success of meeting the Organizational goals for Safety, Quality, and Experience. The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst provides training and education to team members and leaders.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversee, create and maintain new report development and production of standard reports on key Safety, Quality, Patient Experience, Diversity and Inclusion, and other key system-wide strategic, regulatory, and performance improvement metrics.
  • Conduct and present analyses that support our Organizational goals for Safety, Quality, and Experience. Produce the monthly Safety, Quality, Patient Experience, and Diversity and Inclusion reports, scorecard, report card, monthly operating review reports, and accompanying support materials.
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly and independently learn and adopt new software tools and query data systems (data warehouse or other database and reporting systems), and demonstrate mastery of one or more query languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS).
  • Analyze and interpret administrative data, clinical data, and government quality data and measures, and appropriately apply statistical methods (measures of central tendency, confidence intervals, correlation, percentiles).
  • Produce accurate recurring and ad hoc reports within established deadlines. Create efficient presentations of quantitative and qualitative information by minimizing text and appropriately incorporating visual displays. For executive level reports, craft a concise written summary of key report conclusions and clearly translate analyses and visualizations into practical and actionable recommendations.
  • Administer decision support/database or reporting systems by assuming the role of system expert, providing customer service and keeping current with updates and functionality; acts as a primary contact for assigned vendors.
  • Independently gather business requirements and create design specifications for reports. Create clear, accurate reports by establishing and executing validation processes and production checklists.
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining current knowledge of government regulations, policies, and trends that affect the health care industry, and independently conduct online research to access documents, pertinent regulations, or to access publicly available datasets. Cross-train team members and mentor junior members. Triage customer questions by answering, processing, referring, or escalating to the appropriate individuals when needed.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • None Required.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Business, or
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Economics, or
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Information Management or related field.

Experience Required:
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in database and querying.
  • Familiarity with Quality & Safety Reputation Programs is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Experience working with decision support systems or databases.
  • Competent ability to create queries in SQL or other query languages/systems.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Proficient with MS-Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Desire to learn with strong intellectual curiosity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, ability to problem solve, and is results oriented.
  • Experience with basic statistics software and/or visualization software.
  • Competent application of performance improvement principles.
  • Knowledge of health care trends and industry standards preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to use hands with fine manipulation when using keyboard.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel between Metro Region Hospitals as needed.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job.
