Job Summary
The Minnesota Board of Social Work ensures residents of Minnesota receive quality social work services by establishing and enforcing professional standards. The Board keeps Minnesotans safe by 1) licensing qualified social workers, 2) investigating and resolving complaints when services do not meet standards, and 3) providing outreach and education. The Compliance Coordinator will coordinate the Board’s complaint resolution and compliance processes and perform special projects and other duties as assigned.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Process incoming complaints and monitor compliance with disciplinary orders and corrective action agreements.
  • Coordinate and process non-compliance referrals from the Licensing Unit, including required license late fees, noncompliance with license renewal requirements, and noncompliance with continuing education audit processes for licensees, licensing supervisors and CE providers.
  • Coordinate Compliance Panel meetings, and upload needed documents to the BOSW secure meeting site.
  • Respond accurately and professionally to inquiries from Board members and staff, health professionals and organizations, applicants and licensees, employers, and the general public.
  • Other duties include creating and managing files, preparing and mailing correspondence, entering data in the Board’s database, posting notices on the Board web site, scanning and completing reports.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of English sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and write, prepare, and edit reports, correspondence, and other documents, using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail and other written correspondence and effectively communicate and elicit information with tact and diplomacy.
  • Spreadsheet skills sufficient to effectively use spreadsheet software applications such as Microsoft Excel to create, enter, compile, store and retrieve data in a variety of reports.
  • Skills in word processing sufficient to effectively use word processing software applications such as Microsoft Word to construct and type letters, memos, reports, and minutes of meetings that are grammatically correct, in proper format and free of spelling errors.
  • Skills in data entry sufficient to enter data into specific data fields or into a database management system.
  • Ability to accurately handle confidential data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills in dealing with customers in a manner that is non-escalating, helpful and directed toward customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy sufficient to maintain files in orderly fashion according to policies and procedures and to follow compliance deadlines.
  • Experience providing administrative support including processing applications, forms, complaints, etc.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work independently.
  • Ability to organize information and materials into logical and comprehensive summaries and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a seated or standing position for extended time periods.
  • Ability to regularly use phone and computer for extended time periods.
  • Ability to move/lift items of up to 25 pounds at times.
