The Compliance Analyst IACUC - Quality Assurance is responsible for coordinating the completion of the documentation in support of the rules and regulations related to conducting research with animal subjects at MD Anderson. This role provides administrative support to the IACUC with the completion of required facility inspections, program reviews and reporting requirements to all external regulatory and accreditation oversight bodies.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a scientific field, and a science background with experience in animal research, animal handling, regulatory compliance or in a general lab. Knowledge of animal handling rules and regulations is highly preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Quality Assurance Administration
· Coordinates the required IACUC semiannual facility and animal use area inspections by identifying all areas that need to be inspected, assigning IACUC inspectors, scheduling the inspection, collecting and compiling the inspectors' notes, following up on items needing to be corrected and drafting the inspection report.
· Scheduling the required program review, compiling the feedback and drafting the report.
· After IACUC review of the semiannual report, draft appropriate memo and provide to the Institutional Official.
· Compile the appropriate information to draft the OLAW and USDA annual reports.
· Ensure the reports are submitted in a timely manner.
· Assist with the drafting of the OLAW Animal Welfare Assurance and the AAALAC Program Description.
· Keeps current on institutional policies, state and federal regulations, as well as internal processes and procedures.
· Assist in drafting new IACUC SOPs, endorsed procedures or polices.
Trainer
· Trains IACUC members on best practices for conducting semiannual inspections. Conducts outreach to labs on what to expect during inspections and AAALAC site visits.
Institutional Resource
· Serves as an institutional resource by answering calls to the help-line or the email box.
· Refers questions and issues to responsible personnel when appropriate in a timely manner.
· Serves as the back-up to the IACUC coordinator while out of office or during high volume time periods.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Education: Master's degree.
Required Experience: Four years of experience in research or research compliance, general/legal regulatory compliance, corporate compliance, privacy compliance, billing and reimbursement or billing compliance, healthcare administration and/or general business as an analyst, auditor or fraud investigator.
With preferred degree, two years of experience required.
May substitute required degree with additional years of related experience on a one to one basis.
