Position Overview The Community Relations Specialist is focused on developing, implementing, and organizing key partnership opportunities, events, and volunteers to advance the mission and goals of MetroPlusHealth. The primary objective of this position is to build relationships for the purposes of advancing our work by fostering goodwill among key grassroots and grass top stakeholders including those connected with public schools, community-based organizations, colleges and universities, NYC Health + Hospitals campuses and Gotham Health Centers, community health centers, NYCHA developments, community providers, faith-based organizations, community boards, and city agencies. Job Description Identify and Facilitate partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, elected officials, and community representatives.
These collaborations are intended to foster joint initiatives, leverage local expertise, and create opportunities for shared decision-making, leading to more effective and sustainable solutions that address community concerns. Collaborate across the MetroPlusHealth organization with a keen understanding of New York City neighborhoods to advance key growth initiatives and develop a robust engagement strategy focused on community health with public schools and other educational institutions, community-based organizations, NYC Health + Hospitals, community health centers, community providers, faith-based organizations, community boards, and city agencies. Provide education and informational workshops to community partners to provide the community with important information while advancing MetroPlusHealth.
Develop differentiated programming by organizing outreach programs, public meetings, and forums to ensure community voices are heard, respected, and considered when making decisions that affect them directly. Communicate regularly with staff to help MetroPlusHealth better align its services, programs, and policies to meet the diverse needs of the communities we serve to help bridge gaps and create a more inclusivity across the city. Responsible for establishing new community contacts and maintaining existing relationships.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; and 5+ years of Community Relations experience; or A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives including community education and engagement programs. Proven ability to serve the diverse five boroughs of New York City and demonstrated relationships with key constituencies and stakeholders Community organizing and/or engagement experience within diverse geographies and exceptional communication skills Experience speaking to and conducting workshops for community organizations, businesses, or government agencies. Relationships with community organizations, elected officials or government agencies is a plus.
