Job Overview:
Development and direction of communications strategy for Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Charleston, South Carolina, responsible for creating and managing all messaging and multimedia content delivery platforms for internal and external stakeholders
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communications strategy and tactics in collaboration with plant executive team, key stakeholder groups and feedback sensors throughout the organization
- Produce high-quality, effective and innovative communications content with a focus in new media and digitalization, working both independently and with support of interns and/or external service vendors
- Actively contribute to company's cultural transformation through both local and global initiatives and campaigns
- Manage and monitor all communications channels, including internal channels such as social intranet and digital signage and external channels such as company website and LinkedIn page and other social media channels
- Promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on company's behalf in coordination with plant executives and corporate-level communicators, including press releases, media events and management of media inquiries
- Uphold Mercedes branding standards across all official internal and external branded collateral
- Organize special company-wide events and activities (example: Family Day) in collaboration with external vendors and other Daimler entities where applicable
- Lead the plant's community engagement efforts through sponsorships, donations and strategic partnerships
- Act as advisor and consultant for communications and branding activities across the organization
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Public Relations, Communications or relevant field
- Proven experience as Communications Specialist for 3 years
- Experience in a manufacturing organization including day-to-day shopfloor communication
- Experience in copywriting and editing
- Experience in video editing, web design and content production is a plus
- Clear communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. As of December 2019, the MBV facility provides more than 1,700 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. More than 185,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
