Job Summary
As a Communications Manager, you will lead strategic communications for CR’s small business and community impact finance initiatives, with responsibility for developing and executing holistic plans that connect the dots across the firm’s business, philanthropic and research priorities. The ideal candidate will identify and help promote thought leadership opportunities at the national and local level and leverage earned, owned and paid channels to promote priority initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Understand the intersection of business, policy and research priorities and be able to provide timely counsel about how to promote issues against a dynamic media and regulatory environment
- Develop and lead high impact communications strategies that advance the firm’s holistic approach to supporting small businesses and impact investing to advance short and long term departmental goals
- Identify and lead key announcements and events, in partnership with external organizations and across lines of business
- Experience with pitching business, policy, trade and editorial board media preferred; familiarity with prepping, staffing and managing senior executive media engagements is required
- Develop communications materials including but not limited to press releases, messaging, op-eds, media pitches, social media content, executive briefings, presentations and beyond
- Work with colleagues in CR and across the firm, including Corporate Impact Marketing and Lines of Business communications partners, to create “always on” communications to reach key audiences through tactics such as toolkit design, stakeholder messages, newsletter, video production and report development, online content and data visualization.
- Oversee measurement and reporting of impact of these communications plans, performance and recommend/implement improvements.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in communications/public affairs roles
- Relevant communications experience in the private sector on issues related to economic growth and inclusivity, with public policy and government relations advocacy, and/or philanthropy and foundations
- Track record of effective storytelling and managing compelling communications initiatives with measurable results
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external partners and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Strong project management experience, including managing teams and work across departments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Flexibility to manage constantly changing priorities and timelines
