Communications Coordinator

Rocky Mountain Public Media is looking for a self-starting Communications Coordinator to join our Audience Development Team. The Communications Coordinator reports to the Chief Audience Development Officer and contributes guidance to RMPM's communications strategy; handling everything from building out media lists and drafting press releases/media alerts to corporate communications articulating RMPM's impact on communities throughout Colorado. The person in this role has a pulse on the media industry and knows how to get placements in publications that help to generate new and emerging audiences.
A successful Communications Coordinator will grow relationships with media outlets, develop and implement communications campaigns, collaborate with key stakeholders on messaging and demonstrate an ability to share RMPM's brand story with audiences who are unfamiliar with our brands; RMPBS, KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Communication Expectations:
- Leads all public media relations and efforts for Rocky Mountain Public Media and its sub-brands, RMPBS, KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP
- Develops and implements communications campaigns.
- Maintains RMPM's communications plans to support organizational programs and reputation management
- Creates media distribution lists, maintains contacts, and monitors media coverage
Product Curation:
- Develops impact messaging go out in quarterly and annual reports
- Manages and cultivates ongoing communications and relationships with media organizations.
- Writes copy for press releases, media alerts and public facing corporate communication materials
Multifunctional Team Collaboration:
- Collaborates with the Marketing Manager and Brand/Image Director to understand RMPM's key messages and deliverables focusing on audience development.
- Records and updates station impacts in a station-wide impact tracker
Data/Analytics:
- Tracks, analyzes and communicates RMPM's community impacts with stakeholders
Other:
- Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training program. Using key standards and teachings of DEI training in day-to-day work.
- Other tasks as assigned and/or required
Minimum Qualifications of Position
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with 2+ years of experience copywriting and communicating in fundraising and multimedia and business digital marketing.
- Ability to take initiative to learn the best tactics and tools the organization might leverage to meet our strategic goals.
- Excellent computer skills with standard Microsoft Office systems/software as well as Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage successful communication campaigns with solid understanding of web metrics and digital analytics with the ability to generate, analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Work Environment
This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and/or field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
