Job Description
We're looking for an energetic and collaborative professional to join the Public and Media Relations team at NREL. This position will provide administrative and logistical support to our Executive Energy Leadership Academy, Community Outreach/Charitable Giving Programs and Campus Expansion efforts. We're looking for someone who is highly organized as well as being a strong writer and communicator. This position will also engage in newsletter and internal news writing.
As a PR coordinator we're looking for someone with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of event planning and project management is required, as is strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain good working relationships with NREL staff, the general public, and team members.
Duties will include:
  • Logistics, support, and planning as part of the Executive Energy Leadership Academy team
  • Logistics, support, and planning for other public facing activities
  • Writing and storytelling
  • Social media content development
  • Communications activities measurement and reporting
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal stakeholders

Successful candidates must possess:
  • External communication and community engagement experience
  • Media content development/writing experience
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Strong project management skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Demonstrated success handling multiple projects at once
  • Can-do attitude with experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Results-oriented, reliable, able to work under pressure
  • Ability to react positively to rapidly changing circumstances
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with the general public as well as internal stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Basic Qualifications
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Frequent application of industry concepts and principles. General knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs.

Preferred Qualifications
Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Professional II / Annual Salary Range: $62,000 - $102,300
NREL takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
